    Easter Waltz

    yet again, one might suppose
    be encouraged to start the Christmas countdown
    but not clear which comes first, famine or feast
    Saturday, Sunday, Spring, or Fall
    news has little to do with the paper after all
    high and low, overall and inclusive, light and limited
    Liebling—and such a style. The overlooked and outdated
    or for whatever reason, sheets of profit and loss.
    Every moment makes a difference—

    TO WHOMEVER IT MAY CONCERN

    We’re suckers
    for sickness and pain, armchair rebellion and curbs on control;
    suckers for secret weapons, senseless annihilation
    shameless pleasure and wanton fame. We want it all and every which way;
    save, Paris is no more.

    Exception is merely
    THE BIGGEST-BADEST MASQUERADE
    —both fanciful and run-of-the-mill—
    Everyone and their dog:

    THE MANQUE VERSIFIER OF VERSAILLES
